Cricket is a relatively new sport at Al-Iman-Academy and didn't become a P.E. sport until this academic year (2007-2008). The first "cricket match" at Al-Iman-Academy was played in December 2006. The "wickets" were two cones and the "bats" were tennis rackets. Also, because we lacked a cricket ball, we used a tennis ball to play. The boundaries were also ridiculously short. Now, our play is a little more realistic and sophisticated. We use real cricket bats now and chairs for wickets, instead of cones. We now use a taped tennis ball instead of just a tennis ball. A typical match of cricket in P.E. would be 5 overs per side. Matches at school usually vary in length from 2 overs per side to 5 overs per side. We've even had some 1-over per side matches! A typical team usually includes between two to six players. We try to follow most of the rules set by the ICC (International Cricket Council) but occasionally make compromises when the situation calls for it.
